The Museum & Exhibits
The M1917 is the jewel of the collection! All the more special in that its machine gun was acquired from collector Hayes Otoupalik, who introduced me to WW1 when I was 11 years old. He later told me he really didn’t want to gives up that gun, but thought it needed to be with the tank. - Kelly
The remaining section of the WWI Trench. - Justin
The artifacts with personal stories are the most interesting. - Jared
The stories that relate to a specific event, time, or individual. - Kevin H.
U.S.S. Pennsylvania
The duty roster from the USS Pennsylvania during the attack on Pearl Harbor. The sailor knew the world was changing and it would never be the same, but felt he had to preserve some part of the way things were. To carry that paper for the rest of his life proved his love and loyalty to our country. - Sharon
The Navy artifacts, especially the battleship barrels as I worked at the Naval Ship Weapons Center in Dalgrin, VA. - George V.
The Memorials
I like to walk the grounds and read the memorials. Even after many times reading the memorial with my grown children about how our young men left their farms, jobs, and families to answer the call, and defeat what was considered the best army in the world, it still moves me emotionally. - Mark G.
Learning of the sacrifice made by our veterans inspires us to realize the very freedoms we have today were paid for by humans who have given their blood to be certain we enjoy freedom as a nation. - Jeff
