"On the Way to Mexico" - The NGP Mobilizes in 1916

In June of 1916 National Guardsman from across the country were called into federal service and deployed to the border with Mexico to provide protection from cross border raids and banditry.

Join The NGP History Project at the Pennsylvania Military Museum to learn about how Pennsylvanians left behind their civilian lives and participated in the first modern mobilization of the National Guard. Reenactors will be present portraying the lives of the National Guard of Pennsylvania in 1916, and giving presentations about what border service meant to a guardsman in 1916.

Encampment open to the public from 10AM to 3PM, lecture at 1PM in site theater. Event is free and open to the public, donations appreciated.

The NGP History project is committed to researching, writing, and educating the public in order to preserve the story of the National Guard of Pennsylvania from 1866-1917.
